Lacy Air Conditioning Company installed their first air conditioning system.
1972
The company name changed from Lacy Air Conditioning Company to Central Trane Air Conditioning Company, Inc.
1975
In the Fall, CCAC moved to the Fairfax Road location where the current corporate office still is today in Greensboro, North Carolina. Sold the first Commercial service agreement Trinity AME Zion Church in Greensboro, North Carolina.
1984
After growing to the point of no longer needing the Trane name, the company name changed again from Central Trane Air Conditioning Company, Inc. to Central Carolina Air Conditioning, Inc.
1995
In March 1995, Bobby Allison, who would eventually take over as the Owner & President of CCAC joined the CCAC team.
1997
Richard Lacy, the founder and owner of Central Carolina Air Conditioning, Inc. sold the company to a major consolidator, Group Maintenance America.
1999
Group Maintenance America merged with Building One Resources and created a company named Encompass. For the next three years Central Carolina Air Conditioning, Inc. operated as a business unit of Encompass.
2002
Bobby Allison, and CCAC founder, Richard Lacy, along with senior managers, Barbara Dixon, Pat Priddy and Bill Corriher, purchased the company back from Encompass.
2008
Richard Lacy, founder of CCAC, retired and sold his interest to Bobby Allison.
2014
CCACs Commercial HVAC operation was growing at a rapid pace. To differentiate between the companies Residential and Commercial divisions, CCAC Building Solutions was created as the name for the company’s Commercial operation. A new logo was created along with new uniforms, truck lettering, and the new logo was put on the building in Greensboro, North Carolina.
2014
In May 2014, CCAC purchased Dunn Co. a Raleigh Controls company. This lead our initial entry into the Raleigh market and the expanded the Controls division of CCAC Building Solutions.
2015
In September 2015, CCAC purchased BMS Mechanical in Raleigh to continue the expansion into becoming a statewide HVAC provider.
2017
In May 2017, CCAC celebrated 50 years of being in business.
2020
In February 2020, CCAC Building Solutions put down roots in the Triangle by opening a new 15,000 sq ft office in Garner, North Carolina; just outside of Raleigh, North Carolina. In June 2020, CCAC Building Solutions opened an office in Charlotte, North Carolina to serve the companies growing customer base in the western part of North Carolina.
CCAC installed its first air conditioning system in April 1967. Founded by Richard Lacy as Lacy Air Conditioning, the first office and sheet metal shop was a 2,000 sq ft military building in the O.R.D section of Greensboro, North Carolina — a building full of holes and nearly impossible to heat or cool comfortably. From one employee, Richard Lacy, the company grew to six employees and back to three in its first year, generating $27,000 in total sales revenue.
Over the decades, CCAC has grown from a small add-on air conditioning company into a statewide leader in commercial and residential HVAC solutions, providing mechanical, controls, and energy-saving services across North Carolina and the Eastern United States. With locations in Greensboro, Raleigh, and Charlotte, we are poised for continued growth and innovation.
